Arrows were flying, bull eyes were being hit, and everyone was having a great time at the North Oakland County Firefighters Association 3rd annual Firefighter Shoot Out Archery Competition. This year’s archery competition was held at NOCFA’s headquarters located on Grange Hall Rd. 86 shooters competed for various prizes and local firefighters were competing for a traveling trophy and bragging rights.
For the third year in a row White Lake Firefighter Jason Crean and his partner Bob Raymond took home the traveling trophy with a team score of 640. The top 3 individual archers were Greg Fink with a score of 347, Cody Corey with a score of 335, and Dylan Leaym with a score of 335. There was only 1 Robin Hood shot by Todd Deweese (1 arrow shot into another arrow). In addition to the competition, a kids archery area was set up, along with fun shoots that included a 3D steel bear, 5 card stud, and the moving milk jug shoot.
Local and surrounding businesses sponsored the event and all proceeds will benefit next year’s shoot, the NOCFA Firefighters Association and local charities.
Plans for 2012’s event have already begun.
Firefighters and Public Archers are welcome to compete.
